Depression Increases Possibility of Heart Attack

According to a study conducted with 63, 469 women, researchers found that women who were clinically depressed were more than twice likely to suffer a fatal heart attack. The study started with women who were healthy and followed them as they started showing symptoms of depression or started taking anti depression drugs. Once the woman is depressed, she will more likely to suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes and elevated cholesterol, factors which can trigger heart disease.

The study also raised the possibility that those symptoms were caused by the drugs, which in my opinion and experience working with people can be very true.

Here are some symptoms that indicate heart attack according to Dr Nick Zenarosa, emergency medicine physician on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas:

- Breaking into a cold sweat

- Pain moving from the chest into the jaw, shoulder or arms

- Increased pain when you exert yourself

- Rapid onset of fatigue

- Shortness of breath

- Turning pale

- Slow or no response of symptoms to antacids

- Nausea and possible vomiting

If you are experiencing any of the signs mentioned above it is better to go to a nearby Emergency Room or hospital for medical assistance. With heart attack, time is very crucial. It is important that clot-busting drugs and other artery opening treatments are started right away for greater chances of survival

Overweight Are Prone to Heart Attack At An Earlier Age

Heavier person, obsese or overweight are more prone to heart attacks. Most heart attack occur as a result of coronary artery disease (CAD). CAD is the build up over time of a material called plaque on the inner walls of the coronary arteries. Eventually, a section of plaque can break open, causing a blood clot to form at the site. A heart attack occurs if the clot becomes large enough to cut off most or all of the blood flow through the artery. Because of the too much fat in the veins, overweight and obese people are more prone to it.

A study shows that the more you gain weight, the chances of getting this kind of disease is also increasing. Many cardiologist and several institutions study different data on more that 111,000 people who had heart attack.

They are also prone to diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure."It gets very biochemical and very molecular." A simple explanation is that caloric restriction activates an enzyme that prevents fat from being deposited in heart cells.

Another study has a result that the provided evidence for the mechanism by which the obese people have taken comfort from the studies. There are also indication about the survival in the heart attack of the thin people.

"The heart functions better with caloric restriction."
