Mindset and Losing Weight

If you are overweight, you may think that your diet is the only culprit. But there is one thing that may also cause added weight and that also deserves your attention: your mind!

A new study has been conducted at Brookhaven National Laboratory found that women, in particular, seem hard-wired to have emotional cravings for food. According to Tené Lewis of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago "Under stress, people conserve more fat, and we think that may be what's going on here,"

This research also shows that in women, the more bad things the women reported, the more weight they gained.

Achieving a long-term health improvement or diet involves more than just meticulously watching over your calories. It also involves behavior and self-acceptance.

It is important to become aware of our eating patterns. Look for the times when you take in the most food. It can be when you are stressed, happy or depressed. Another helpful habit is to keep yourself pre-occupied with other stuff rather than eating. Having hobbies and things you enjoy doing on your own time will help with that.

Getting Back to Exercise Habits

A lot of people find themselves falling out of their exercise habits. More often than not, once that happens it is much more difficult to get back on track. Aaron M. Potts, a personal development blogger shared some ways on how to get back into the exercise habit.

-Use it as a time for yourself. We easily get caught up with the business of life, work and family and we often tend to forget to give ourselves time. You can just allot at least 30 minutes of your time daily for exercise. Tell everyone that this is your time for yourself and that only extreme emergency situations can interfere you during your "alone time"

- Give your fat clothes away. Most of the time it is much easier for us to just lay back and revert back to our old eating habits if we have "fat clothes" available in our closets. Instead of giving away your "thin clothes" give away the "fat clothes". Your small clothes will serve as a motivation for you to loose weight and to drive you to keep going.

- Reward yourself. It can be a simple night out dinner or that very expensive gadget you've been eyeing on for months. Rewarding yourself everytime you shake off that extra pounds will help you keep going.

Loosing weight and staying focused on your goal requires discipline and hard work. Its not impossible to achieve this, you just have to stay motivated and focused on what your end result will be. Keep going, you can do it.

Big Breakfast = Loosing Weight

When we think of loosing weight, we initially think of cutting off our food intake. We think that by reducing the amount of food we take will lead us to the perfect body that we dream of.

According to MedicineNet.com, eating a 600-calorie breakfast rich in carbohydrates and protein helps dieters lose more weight long term than eating a modest breakfast.

A recent study was conducted at Virginia Commonwealth University to determine the long term effect of taking in big breakfast versus small breakfast. As a result, members of the big-breakfast group lost more than 21% of their body weight; low-carbohydrate group members lost 4.5%.

It is more likely for those who eat small breakfast to take unplanned snacks during the day versus those who take in big breakfast before lunch. To effectively shed off that extra pounds, it is important to start with a heavy breakfast daily, take protein every meal and increase fruits and vegetable intake.
