Child Obesity Poses Serious Threat To National Security

It's not for nothing that first lady Michelle Obama recently set the ball rolling for her campaign to counter child obesity. Eminent personages from different walks of life, even generals and admirals, extended her their wholehearted support. Obesity has assumed alarming proportions in the US in recent times, emerging as the primary reason why applicants fail to make it into the armed forces. In the past 30 years, one in three otherwise healthy children in America has suffered from obesity, rendering them unfit for military service. Additionally, these kids are going to have a restricted life span too because of the attendant problems that obesity brings in its wake. The best way to nip the problem in the bud appears to be concerted action to rectify nutritional programs at the school level.
